Walsh’s Funeral Directors understand that losing a loved one can be overwhelming. That’s why we do our very best to help and support you during this difficult time. As the third generation of Walsh’s Funeral Directors, and members of the IAFD, we recognise the importance of our work and can promise your family and loved one will be treated with the greatest level of respect and dignity at all times.

Beginning over 100 years ago with coffin building, Walsh’s Funeral Directors have adapted to changing times and practices and can provide you a range of services all with the care and expertise that only comes with years of experience. Some of the assistance we can offer your family includes:

  • Purchase of a new grave or arrange re-opening of an existing family plot.

  • Liaising with church or non denominational ministers for funeral times.

  • Collection of remains and preparation for reposing of remains either in a funeral home or private residence.

  • Advising on a suitable coffin for burial.

  • Arrangement of death notices on radio, in national newspapers, and R.I.P.ie.

  • Delivery of family flowers to funeral home.

  • Arrange repatriation of remains to Ireland.

  • Coordinate with the coroner and An Garda Síochána in the case of sudden death.

  • Coordinate with crematorium and guide the family through the cremation process.

  • Hiring of musicians to play during the funeral service.

  • Arrange the live streaming of funerals for family members and friends unable to attend.

We are available across the Oughterard, Killannin and Moycullen areas, and can come to you to make the necessary arrangements or, if you prefer we can meet in either our Oughterard or Moycullen office.
